Astell & Kern ZERO1
The Astell & Kern AK ZERO1 is a new IEM from Astell&Kern. It features three separate drivers and produces a revolutionary hybrid sound. Its one-of-a-kind design combines the sonic characteristics of two dynamic micro planar drivers, two Balanced Armature (BA) drivers, and a dynamic driver to provide unrivaled genuine sound. Astell&Kern has set new benchmarks in IEM technology, bringing music fans closer to the studio sound than ever before.

The Micro Rectangular Planar Dynamic Driver is a cutting-edge driver that enables the famously difficult-to-size-down design of a planar driver for headphones to be used in in-ear monitors. The durable and lightweight planar diaphragm eliminates frequency loss and is paired with a high-polymer vibratory plate and a thin metal layer to generate crystal clear and dynamic high frequencies.
Dynamic drivers and a dual balanced armature
The driver technology on the AK ZERO1 consists of two BA drivers with specifically developed coils that deliver transparent sounds with minimum distortion. The AK ZERO1 is ready to deliver its breakthrough hybrid sound, thanks to a single 5.6mm dynamic driver that delivers rich, controlled, and deep bass tones.
Designing a crossover
A crossover design based on a deep understanding of each driver’s specifications was designed to realize this new sound through optimum frequency response. The drivers are then meticulously positioned in the best possible location and encased in custom-designed acoustic chambers created using 3D printing technology.
To ensure reliable performance, these precision enclosures reduce unwanted driver movement and resonance. Internal and external vibrations are reduced by the precision-machined primary enclosure, resulting in the most focused and precise sound conceivable.
Pure silver coated cables provide Hi-Fi quality.
Pure silver-coated OFC cables are included with the AK ZERO1 to significantly improve audio performance. To maintain audio transmission transparency, these cables are coated with high-purity silver and copper and feature aluminum connectors. The MMCX connectors provide a high-quality connection between the ear housing and the cable, ensuring long-term and consistent performance.
NEW MMCX cable accessory with a diameter of 4.4 mm
Astell&Kern is offering an optional 4.4mm cable for discriminating audiophiles who wish to experience the greatest possible audio quality with their AK ZERO1 IEMs or other MMCX-compatible headphones. The PEP11 has larger, 4.4mm aluminum connectors and the same high-quality, high-purity silver plating and copper cable as the PEP10.
Astell & Kern ZERO1 distinctive design
The AK ZERO1 maintains Astell&Kern’s distinctive aggressive, diagonal design language, with a high-quality, polished metal finish that vividly reflects light. The housing and compact ear cups have been meticulously developed and refined to offer a secure and comfortable fit while also transmitting sound efficiently and correctly into the ears.
Included are five pairs of silicone ear tips in various sizes and a set of foam ear tips, as well as a carrying case to keep the IEMs secure during transport to ensure an optimal fit.
