The advanced magnetic circuit is the result of many years of work on optimizing the loudspeaker assemblies used in planar headphones. HiFiMAN uses an asymmetrical arrangement of small magnets placed on the ear’s side, thanks to which it reduces the level of distortion and interference caused by the work of the membrane, and at the same time guarantees high efficiency. Magnets of this type were used for the first time in the Sundara and Ananda models.
Asymmetrical Magnetic Structure
It weighs around 400 grams, despite its lightweight bracket construction. The fact that it did not achieve a real lightweight is the result of the very elaborate construction of the driving magnets, which HiFiMan calls “asymmetrical magnetic structure.” Towards the ear, the Arya works with smaller round magnets, towards the back with larger rod magnets to drive the foil, which is only a few nanometers thin. To demonstrate the kind of dimensions we are talking about here, one nanometer is 1/1,000,000 mm, or in other words, one-millionth of a millimeter. The reason behind all this effort: the extremely light foil can react quickly and undistorted to impulses of any kind, and the shape of the magnets ensures that the sound reaches the ear of the music lover as unaltered as possible.
Never before has a company offered this kind of planar performance at this price point, making it more accessible than ever. The Arya is a must-listen for its speed, wide soundstage, and mind-blowing details.
Driver for the HE1000 V2
Hifiman Arya features a driver based on the HE1000 V2, raising sonic characteristics to a considerably higher level than similarly priced products.
The HE1000 series is an audiophile favorite. In particular, the 1000 V2 is one of the brand’s best-selling models to date, according to Founder and CEO Dr. Fang Bian. Their experience working and reworking the technology until they reached sonic perfection lent them the ability to adapt many of the same technical features in a headphone that is accessible to a wider audience of music lovers.
With an ergonomic design to comfortably fit most listeners, the Arya incorporates such Hifiman features as the patented “window shade” system that reduces reflections to widen the soundstage. A super-thin diaphragm guarantees a faster response and the bare minimum of distortion.
As with all new Hifiman products, the Arya features 3.5mm headphone connectors that are angled at 10°, lessening the pressure points associated with straight-angled connectors. These pressure points sometimes stress the connection, but the new design ensures a solid, reliable, and long-lasting link between the headphone and the cable.
Arya uses a sturdy 3.5mm user-replaceable connector design for maximum durability. This makes it easy for the listener to experiment with cable swapping for enhanced customizing. The included cable uses crystalline copper wire conductors for superb audio. It features a jet black woven jacket, complementing Arya’s striking aesthetic.
