Meze Empyrean Phoenix

Exotic open-back headphones for audiophiles are the Meze Empyrean Phoenix. They are the first planar magnetic headphones with a “Rinaro Isodynamic Hybrid Array” technology, which promises to minimize driver weight, deliver ultra-high-resolution audio, and lower total harmonic distortion.

They have a special driver and are also quite beautifully made, with carbon fiber headbands, leather padding, and geometric aluminum grilles. Their fit is light and comfy despite their hefty appearance.

Their warm sound profile and veiled, dark treble, however, might turn off some consumers. Additionally, they lack a punchy low-bass, although this is to be anticipated with open-back headphones.

The Empyrean, the company’s premier open-back model, uses Rinaro’s Isodynamic Hybrid Array Driver to create the first planar-magnetic headphone. With the Empyrean, Meze aims to provide an unmatched Hi-Fi experience centered on top-tier planar-magnetic performance and an audacious yet incredibly cozy design.

The Empyrean is a unique product; they are the kind of cutting-edge audio component that isn’t supported by a ton of hype. It may be said that these are currently the best headphones available.

Aesthetics Build quality

Undoubtedly one of the most complex designs is that of the Empyrean. The result is a headphone that not only looks like a refined piece of modern art but is also incredibly robust thanks to the hand-assembled chassis’ exquisite blending of premium materials like carbon fiber, leather, and solid aluminum.

The Meze Empyrean Phoenix’s comfort levels are as astounding as its construction and layout. Despite weighing 430g, it genuinely seems lighter than the lightest headphone because of its excellent weight distribution.

Then, a low clamp force listening experience is created by the ear-cups spring-back mechanism in conjunction with the soft pads. It’s also important to note that the ovoid-shaped pads are deep and incredibly roomy, giving the user’s ears plenty of space.

Overall, the Empyrean is without a doubt one of the most relaxed and unfatiguing headphones; in this regard, it is readily comparable to models like the HD 800 S.

Sound effects of the highest caliber for maximum comfort

The Empyrean is the first planar-magnetic headset in the world to use an isodynamic hybrid array, which employs two voice coils with independently formed shapes on a single diaphragm to handle a range of frequencies and enhance acoustic delivery to the listener’s ears.

The Empyrean’s bass is particularly well extended into the lowest registers, with plenty of depth and sub-bass rumble, as is typically the case with planar-magnetic headphones.

The bass of the Empyrean is also controlled and tuneful; it is skilled at nuancing and texturizing low tones so that the bass sounds appropriately defined and contoured.

The Empyrean performs exceptionally well in terms of sound staging abilities. Although it wasn’t quite as spacious-sounding as the HD 800 S, it still provided an extremely open listening experience with a strong sense of distance.

Final Thoughts About Meze Empyrean Phoenix

For neutral sound, the Meze Empyrean Phoenix is excellent. Their passive soundstage appears broad, open, and large due to their open-back design. Vocals and lead instruments are hidden by their rolled-off treble, and sibilants like cymbals are softened.

These headphones also seriously lack low-bass, despite the fact that planar magnetic drivers normally improve bass accuracy. To push these headphones to their maximum potential, you also need an amp. Best Recommendations to You!
