Astell&Kern’s goal with the AK70 was to bring high-resolution audio and the Astell&Kern sound to a wider audience of music enthusiasts. This goal was carried forward with the A&norma SR15, the successor to the AK70, and is now being realized in the SR25, a premium product that fully implements Astell&Kern’s philosophy and technology.

The SR25 expresses every musical detail and bit-accurate reproduction, fully fulfilling Astell&Kern’s philosophy – that sound quality is never compromised.

New Performance Mode

For the first time in an Astell&Kern standard product, the SR25 supports native DSD256 and 32bit/384kHz audio, which produces incomparable performance to competitive products, despite the player being smaller than others. Along with the new SR25, A&K is developing a new Performance Mode that automatically optimizes and sets the storage mode in the system according to the data size of the source being played.

This means that audio dropouts do not occur at all, and audiophile listeners can simply enjoy the near-perfect sound quality. Performance mode offers ultra-high resolution that uncompromisingly reproduces even the smallest, tiniest details of the original recording that the artist was looking for.

Up to 21 hours of continuous playback time – without compromising sound quality

Excessive noise, which greatly affects sound quality, and also poor power efficiency with shortened playback time are two problems. This can occur when the stable design and efficiency of the power supply are not properly considered. And consequently, the difference between input and output voltage is large or the output voltage is unstable.

So the Astell&Kern team took on this challenge and created a player with the longest playback time of any Astell&Kern product to date, while maintaining the typical Astell&Kern quality sound and low noise floor. This was achieved by using highly efficient components and circuit optimization to bring out the best in performance.

The result is up to 21 hours of continuous playtime, more than double the previous generation SR15. And without compromising sound quality.

Brilliant circuit design

Proper playback of DSD256 and 32bit/384kHz digital audio requires many things. A powerful CPU and high memory speed, as well as an audio path suitable for high-speed signal processing, are extremely important. Optimizing the length of the audio path is also a very important part. Otherwise, there may be a time delay between signals, resulting in sound anomalies.

The SR25 has a completely different PCB design compared to its predecessor. And the SR15, to process the high-speed signals where they are needed. The result is the same audio path length, allowing for super-high-resolution sound without any delay.

In addition, the SR25 has newly designed audio patterns and power circuits for each channel for distortion-free signal transmission and noise reduction. The result is an ultra-low noise filter that allows users to experience Astell&Kern’s pristine sound with Zero Noise on the SR25.
