ZMF – Caldera Closed

Caldera Closed. ZMF’s first “from the ground up” closed planar headphone. Born from the Caldera Open (Headfonics Best Ortho 2023- the Closed utilized the now Patented Atrium Damping System and the Patent Pending Caldera Pad and Caldera Magnet Systems.

Sonically the Closed version imparts the speed, immediacy and dynamism of the open, while adding a sub-bass boost and closer to Harman tuning with the incredible isolation of a closed back.

Aesthetically the Caldera Closed for the first time uses a geometrically “Caldera Volcano” influenced cup shape, with asymmetrical dips and dives that allow the sonic character of our driver to shine through. A unique shape that feels amazing in the hand and much lighter on the head than you could ever imagine.

The current stock wood for the Caldera is Shou Sugi Ban Ash. The Ash is treated with a burning technique that brings out the beauty on this special EU Ash.

The LTD wood for the Caldera Closed is Black and White Ebony. With its striking contrast of deep black and creamy white streaks, offers a visually captivating and luxurious appearance that grows in irregular patterns, resulting in one-of-a-kind, artistic marbling that makes each headphone truly unique. The fine, smooth grain of black and white ebony makes for a super smooth “buttery” finish that you’ll love to handle.  Natural “checks” are present in Black and White Ebony, and some pieces may be accentuated by Resin to make the wood machinable.   

The HOT OFF THE GRILLE (Hot Cup Summer) LTD Edition wood is RedHeart. With its vibrant reddish hue, lends a rich and eye-catching aesthetic to headphones. This exotic wood derives its striking color from the heartwood of the Redheart tree, which grows in the tropical regions of Central and South America, creating a warm and lively pattern that can vary from deep red to lighter, fiery tones. The fine, even texture and natural luster of Redheart wood makes for a smooth, polished finish that will glow!

The Redheart Headphones are garnished with a Ruby Chassis (in Magnesium OR Aluminum), GunMetal Grill and/or Rods, a Ruby BBB strap and your choice of a Leather or Suede headband assembly.
