A revolutionary transformation in the realm of planar headphones.

A significant challenge associated with the driver size is the limited space available for incorporating pressure compensation holes between the acoustic chambers of the headphones. This constraint necessitates the adoption of simplified designs with sealed ear chambers, resulting in an imbalance in membrane movement.

This design characteristic also gives rise to a significant issue concerning our ears. When the headphones are positioned with a pad in a sealed chamber, the eardrum experiences pressure, altering the high-frequency response and inducing the characteristic cave effect.

In the development of the headphones, the primary focus was on identifying a planar driver support plate that is lightweight yet exceptionally rigid, ensuring minimal deformation under the dynamic load imposed by the potent planar driver equipped with N52 class neodymium magnets on both sides of the diaphragm.

To address this challenge, Spirit Torino introduced a novel composite material known as Texalwood. This innovation involves casting epoxy resin into a panel of poplar plywood, sandwiched between two layers of Texalium (glass fiber infused with aluminum). The resulting support structure is designed to accommodate the VPS Pad ventilation system and pressure compensation holes. This configuration enables the membrane to move with symmetrical resistance in both directions of motion.

Revolutionizing the Pad

Recognizing that the pad constitutes a significant 50% of headphone designs, it becomes evident that a one-size-fits-all approach is insufficient. The Centauri headphones, being sizable, feature a distinctive Ventilation Pad System, uniquely implemented through an outward expansion trumpet rather than the conventional ventilation outlets.

Crafted from Alcantara and leather, the Centauri’s Pad is not only spacious, accommodating larger ears, but also contributes to the creation of an expansive listening environment capable of producing a commanding sound stage.

Adding to the innovation, the Centauri Pad incorporates a novel attachment system for Spirit, allowing for swift detachment through strategically placed magnets on the frame. This design facilitates effortless replacement and routine maintenance, ensuring unparalleled convenience for users.

Walnut and Texawood Driver Rack for Enhanced Dynamics

To optimize dynamic performance in planar headphones, a key challenge compared to traditional systems, we introduced the concept of an inertial frame. Achieving a minimal mass in the static parts of the frame, facilitated by the Multilayer Wood system with compact and rigid walnut wood, enhances the system’s dynamic efficiency index. This design approach addresses the limited range of motion in planar membranes, overcoming a traditional Achilles heel in their performance.

The support plate of the powerful isodynamic driver is made of Texawood composite material, which guarantees high rigidity to dynamic thrusts.
