Empire Ears RAVEN – A New Benchmark in Flagship IEM Design
Unveiled to the world at the Tokyo Portable Audio Festival in 2022, the Empire Ears RAVEN represents the culmination of years of innovation, global feedback, and acoustic engineering. Born from the ambitious Project Raven and refined through international exhibitions like CanJam and AXPONA, this flagship in-ear monitor embodies Empire’s relentless pursuit of sonic excellence.
At the heart of the RAVEN is a revolutionary Quadbrid Dual Conduction architecture combining 12 proprietary drivers:
- Dual W9+ subwoofers for seismic, yet controlled low-end response
- Five custom Balanced Armature drivers for lush, articulate mids
- Four electrostatic drivers by Sonion for ultra-fast transient response and immaculate treble detail
- The W10 Bone Conduction driver – a proprietary transducer delivering immersive timbre and resonance through both air and bone pathways
These components are seamlessly integrated via Empire’s synX crossover networkand managed with EIVEC MKII, an advanced control system ensuring perfect phase, timing, and spatial rendering—particularly between the EST and bone conduction drivers.
A feat of acoustic metallurgy, RAVEN incorporates a precision-machined 316L stainless steel faceplate and a specially designed Harmonic Resonance Core (HRC)—a polymer structure that amplifies vibrations and enhances both resolution and dynamic energy. Supporting this is the ARC (Anti-Resonance Control) system, now applied across multiple internal elements for an even blacker background and greater tonal purity.
The result: a holographic, highly engaging presentation with physical bass impact, lifelike vocal textures, and treble that extends effortlessly without harshness.
Every RAVEN is handcrafted in the USA, undergoing over 9 hours of individual assembly by master artisans in Atlanta, Georgia. The launch edition is limited to just 400 units, featuring a brilliant gold faceplate, while the standard model is finished in gloss black.
To match its performance, RAVEN includes the PWaudio R7 cable, co-developed with Peter Wong, using dual-gauge OCC copper (26+25 AWG) in a four-core layout. Terminated in a premium 4.4mm rhodium-plated plug, the R7 unlocks the full sonic potential of this flagship monitor.
