ALO Audio – Studio Six

The ALO Audio – Studio Six circuit is a class-A single-ended triode (SET) with zero feedback and 100 percent tube amplification, designed to resolve fine musical details, present an expansive soundstage, and provide lush tonal quality. In this design, only vacuum tubes with the highest reputation for sonic virtue are used.

These tubes will remain available in the global audio market. The power supply uses vacuum tube rectification and is designed as a “virtual dual monoblock.” Filtering for the Left and Right input stages consists of two glow discharge regulator tubes, as well as separate multi-stage filtering for each Left and Right Channel output tube.

The Studio Six is expressly designed for headphones and can power multiple pairs of headphones without sacrificing fidelity, making it an ideal amp for group listening sessions. 

A proprietary output stage easily accommodates a wide range of headphone impedances ranging from 8 to 600 Ohms. The ‘overbuilt’ power supply has a strong multi-stage high-voltage filtering system for excellent low-frequency performance.

Final Thoughts about ALO Audio – Studio Six

The combination is simply intoxicating. It may be a little overkill for the easier-to-drive LCD-X, but it sure sounds great. The more demanding LCD-3, on the other hand, absolutely thrives with the quality power that the ALO Studio Six provides. Don’t get me wrong: the ALO also does an excellent job with the HiFiMAN HE-6.

It has plenty of power, allowing the HE-6’s detailed low end to come to life. You can’t go wrong with these combinations. ALO has successfully created a lifetime tube headphone amp that produces sweet, sensual music for the ears.
